Fenix HP30R V2.0 is a professional headlamp for adventurers, emitting a light output of 3000 lumens and an effective range of 270m. After the upgrade, the flashlight is powered by 2 21700 batteries with the largest capacity on the market, has a built-in USB-C fast charging port, and an extremely convenient and responsive rotary switch.
The flashlight has a durable aircraft-grade aluminum body, so it has successfully passed drop tests from a height of 2 meters. The aluminum alloy effectively dissipates the heat generated during illumination, and is resistant to mechanical damage, corrosion and weather conditions. The HP30R V2.0 headlamp, like its first version, consists of 3 main components: a light module, a separate power container, and an elastic band. The external battery container has an additional extension cord, which allows us to conveniently carry the power module in a backpack, in a jacket pocket, and on a trouser/backpack belt. Thanks to this design in winter conditions, we can effectively protect the batteries from the effects of frost and adapt the flashlight to the specifics of our outdoor activities. We are provided with 7 clips (4 helmet clips, 3 band clips) for easy organization and stable attachment of the power cord.
Thanks to this design, the Fenix HP30R V2.0 will be perfect for cave exploration, camping, night walking, search and rescue operations, as well as any outdoor activity where we need a convenient light with a long runtime.
The main light source of the flashlight is a large CREE XHP50 LED emitting a maximum light output of 2000 lumens. Such impressive illumination allows you to illuminate a large cave, slope or forest wall even from a distance of 270 meters. The white-colored light better illuminates distant places, and we also have the impression of much greater brightness. The light from the main diode reflects the smooth reflector, creating a well-focused beam, useful for exploration, exploring passages and admiring distant objects. To minimize light loss, the flashlight uses a tempered ultra-clear glass with a high-reflective light transmission coating.
In addition to the long-range emitter, the headlamp uses 2 additional LEDs: the XP-G3 S4 with neutral color. The CREE XPG-3 S4 small emitters emit light with a warm color (3500 K) and a high color index CRI 75. As a result, the colors of objects and surroundings are much better reproduced (than in the case of cold light) and look natural. The light of the small emitters is dispersed by means of collimating lenses. The wider and evenly dispersed 100° beam will be ideal for illuminating the workplace, camp, will be appreciated by photography enthusiasts and people who, even during an overnight stay in the woods, will not refuse to read "to the pillow". Using a flashlight with neutral light in winter, we will avoid unpleasant glare from light reflected from snow or ice. The flashlight has an adjustable angle of light (up to 60°), which is done by tilting the flashlight module forward.
Simultaneous inclusion of all emitters in turbo mode creates a beam of light of as much as 3000 lumens, so the Fenix HP30R V2.0 can also be used during search and rescue operations.
The Fenix HP30R V2.0 headlamp is powered by 2 21700 Fenix ARB-L21-5000 lithium-polymer batteries with a capacity of as much as 5000 mAh. The 21700 cells are the highest capacity batteries on the market and guarantee the longest flashlight runtime.
Charged batteries provide up to 120 hours of operation in low scattered light mode or up to 5 hours of illumination of all emitters in turbo mode (total run time). If you want to extend the flashlight's runtime, just plug an external power bank into the built-in USB-C port. The USB-C port has a high charging current of 2A allowing the battery to be charged in just 4.5 hours. Charging via the USB-C port is done without removing the battery from the headlamp. This functional and convenient solution has already been appreciated by many mountain enthusiasts, survivalists and hikers.
The 21700 battery container can be used as a portable power bank, which allows us to charge our smartphone several times. During cave exploration and outdoor activities, it is useful to know the state of the battery, so the HP30R V2.0 flashlight uses an LED indicator that informs the user about its condition (a feature that works only with Fenix ARB-L21 series batteries).
The v2.0 uses a single rotary switch, which is responsible for activating and changing all flashlight modes. The high responsiveness of the switch, combined with an extremely simple and instinctive interface, provides unprecedented ease and comfort of use. Turning the knob clockwise manages the focused light. Turning counterclockwise, you control the brightness of the diffused light. To turn on all emitters, simply press the knob. Operating the flashlight with winter gloves is made easier by the transverse cutters on the switch.
Comfortable carrying of the flashlight on the head is ensured by an elastic rubber band, which is responsible for comfort and efficient wicking of sweat during exercise. An additional stabilizing strap and a set of clips make it easy to adjust the headband to the user, as well as to attach it to a protective helmet.
The Fenix HP30R V2.0 features reverse polarity protection (incorrect battery installation), which can damage the electronics. The flashlight also has overheat protection, initiated automatically when the manufacturer-defined temperature is reached. The flashlight features a high IP66 rating, which means it is resistant to dust, dust, heavy rain and momentary immersion in water. As a result, the HP30R V2.0 can be successfully used in all weather conditions and extreme outdoor activities.
The presented parameters were obtained under laboratory conditions. Fenix ARB-L21-5000 21700 batteries were used during testing.
